I was introduced to this capo at a gig and the owner (who is an endorser of the company) let me try it out. It seemed to work well so I bought one a few days later. I already own several G7 capos, both regular a cut. This one however, was touted as being superior to any other capo because it would keep the strings in tune through an adaptive technology they called ART. Well, the problem is, it doesn''t really work. This is because you can''t adjust the tension. All you can do is squeeze it. What happens is that many times that is not enough to put enough pressure on the strings to keep them from buzzing. Usually it is 1 string, and its in the middle or on the bass side. They must have realized that putting tension would cause the strings to go sharp, which is standard with most capos. However, if you don''t have enough pressure, sure you won''t sharp the note, but a buzzing or dead sounding string is far worse. I have used dozens of different capos. Many of the less expensive ones put too much tension. This one is both expensive and not effective. I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 because it did work on a few of my guitars just fine. Sending it back.

This isn’t a bad capo; it’s not a capo at all. You can’t put it on a guitar and play the guitar.

The packaging says “Suitable for all acoustic and electric 6 string guitars”. Nope. It’s non-functional on a Taylor 322, or any other guitar I own. It can’t grip tight enough to fret the strings solidly. I could try wrapping gorilla tape around the back part, but I’ll return it instead. Tuning was quite good, for whatever that’s worth when the strings don’t ring well enough to play. The gripping mechanism seems secure: I can’t budge it without releasing it the correct way. If I had any guitars with thick necks, I’d be giving this more stars.

Back to the Kyser. Maybe these guys will eventually make a version for the other 2/3 of the guitars on the market. Or is it 3/4? Comically incompetent, either way. They just didn’t bother testing it.

I have been playing guitar professionally on and off for over 40 years. I have owned many, many capos, from old ones with a small bungee holding, basically, a stick, to the “one Handed” ones, to the screw vice type. I have never thought much about the capo being important enough to spend much money on, until I got this one. The ease of use alone is worth the money, but the way if works without changing the tuning, almost at all, is amazing. Using a very good strobe tuner, I found that the 6th string would be about two “ticks” on the calibration sharp, while all others were one or less. This was not enough for me to tell that it was not perfect. Putting my old (pretty good) capo on the 5th fret and playing a chord, and then using the G7th Performance 3 ART on the same fret, the difference was striking, very noticeable. I have been playing out of tune any time I used a capo all my life, apparently. This one is pretty small, and fits very well on my Telecaster, but if you take care when putting it on, it also works well with my Takamine acoustic/electric. Granted, this is a 5/6 scale guitar, and I have not tried this on any others, I am really hoping it fits on my Ovation. I doubt seriously that it will fit at all on my 12 string, but I don’t play that one very much anyway. So, in conclusion: Best capo I have ever tried. I am very pleased with the purchase, and will be using only G7th ART in the future. I HIGHLY recommend this produce, even to the casual player, this well worth the investment.

I''m 45 and a professional gigging musician. I have owned just about every capo. From Keyser, to G7th, to Thalia and more. This is about as close to the holy grail of capo I have been looking for. Even compared to the G7th performance 2. All my buzz is gone! The ART system is no joke. Truly a game changer for me. I have GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome) so I own more than a dozen capos and multiples of the same. I am probably going to buy a second one of these soon. I know gear like not many people do. So buy this capo now!

One key thing to is when I play Norwegian Wood. The capo is reversed and the low E is left out of the capo. I tried this with the performance 2 and never worked. Thalia failed at that too. The g7th Nashville came close but not perfect. The Keyser works for this. And now the new performance 3 works too! Friken awesomeness.

I can''t say enough GOOD things about this particular capo. I''m a guitarist for 50 years and this product is the INDUSTRY STANDARD. It costs a bit more (in some cases 3 times as much) but, is worth every penny. REASON: It adjusts itself to your particular guitar no matter the shape of the neck, string guage, width of the neck etc. Your guitar be "in Tune" no matter where the G7 is placed. I''ve had MANY capos over the years, some easier to clip on quickly for the next song but, they will often result in your guitar being slightly out of tune on certain strings.
The G7 is the GOLD standard of capos in my opinion. You can FEEL the quality and solid construction from the weight. Buy one, you won''t be sorry. IF for some reason you don''t absolutely love its'' performance you can always return it to Amazon given their generous 30 day return policy. ( It IS slightly harder to put ON and OFF your guitar but, it''s worth the extra couple of seconds.

I play finger style acoustic instrumentals. I must have it in absolute tuning, or really darn close or it drives me crazy because even with excellent intonation, less than a cent out of tune seems to be more noticeable up the neck. This capo works pretty darn good on a Santa Cruz (mild V) and very good on a Huss and Dalton as well as a Lowden (std GL profile) which is saying a lot, but it wasn''t any better on a Taylor than any other capo I have. Would I buy it again if I lost it? Yes, because it is a good tool that works when others fail. Writing this months later, I’m not sure if it’s my imagination or not but it seems that it actually may have gotten better.
G7- if you are listening, as a pro level player I''d pay $100 for a capo that really worked on any instrument. I understand if you can''t make a capo based on compound radii, but I hope you can take this further and if it costs $100 it would be worth it. I know people are going to be saying $100?!?!?! But think of how much money we spend hoping for a capo to work. I''ve a collection and so does everyone else. One and Done.

I have always used the Kyser capo''s for all my guitars. I recently purchased a Godin A6 Ultra, which uses 10 gauge acoustic strings, and the Kyser capo''s, not matter where in between frets it was or how it was positioned, would make the guitar go out of tune. It would go out of tune so bad the guitar wasn''t playable with the Kyser capo on. I did a lot of research and tweaking to my Godin, but nothing was helping. I could have used thicker strings, which I tried, but the Godin didn''t like anything thicker than the 10 gauge. I read an article that talked about this G7th Performance capo, which at first just sounded like an advertisement because I was very skeptical a different capo would fix the problem, especially because it was much more expensive than any capo I have ever purchased. So I researched this exact G7th Performance capo some more and found that many people were saying the same thing about how great this capo is. So, I ordered one figuring I could return it if it didn''t work. But, it DID work, and works really well. I can capo any fret and the guitar stays in tune - it maybe goes out a little depending on the fret, but good enough that the guitar chords still sound good. You still (at least on my Godin) have to take a little time to figure out exactly where the sweet spot is as if it''s a little out of tune, you can move the capo a little closer to a fret or further away (more in between the frets) and that puts the guitar back into tune. And a little time is needed to figure out the ''sweet spot'' of the tightness the capo needs or you may get a little fret buzz if it''s too loose, and it might go a little more out of tune that you''d like if it''s too tight. All and all, this is a GREAT capo. I''m very satisfied. I do play acoustic shows about every weekend so I have put this to the test. The only thing you want to make sure you do is keep an eye on the capo and don''t forget it! It''s an expensive little piece of equipment to leave behind! Hope this helps.

I use this for live performance, multiple times a week, 1 handed, with no struggle at all. Especially compare to the original G7th. That one was a struggle sometimes.

If you are looking for the best capo, that isn''t going to immediately pull strings out of tune because they are pushing down on your strings so hard this is the capo for you.

The G7th V2 was such a lead forward and this version just adds icing to the cake with adjusting to the radius of your fretboard.

While not perfect, this is hands-down the best capo I''ve used. Given the build quality and lifetime warranty, it just about justifies the cost. My old Shubb is fussy about necks, buzzes, requires me to re-tune, doesn''t like string bends, and takes an age to set-up. The G7th reduces all of those problems, as much as I think it''s possible to do so. You do, however, need to spend a day or two getting used to using it. I used it with a range of neck profiles (including Gibson 50s-style "baseball bat", modern compound radius, etc.) and have been very happy with results. After a few days'' use, I found it quick and easy to deploy and it requires little, if any tuning adjustment. I did at first get occasional "dead" strings, but found this reduced as I got used to the pressure required, where to position it, etc. Best of all, it''s possible to bend strings without putting it out of tune, or physically displacing the string under the capo. Reading other reviews it''s clear some folks expect nothing short of magic, and to be fair G7th do make bold claims. The truth, of course, is that there are physical limits to how good a capo can be, and you do have to invest a little time in learning how to get the best from it.

I usually have to fiddle with this capo’s fitting to get the strings to not buzz, so that’s disappointing. You could probably coax this capo to work on guitars that a regular capo wouldn’t work well on, so maybe it’s more versatile. If you can be bothered it may be preferable to buy several capos until you find one that works first time on a specific guitar. But if you just want to own one capo to use occasionally for several guitars, perhaps this is worth it… perhaps.

I purchased this capo as an additional capo for my guitars. I am an experienced guitarist but have always used a good old fashioned Shubb capo and it has never let me down but when I came to purchase another I thought I would try something different. I actually watched a couple of videos about the G7th and it seemed pretty straight forward and the claim was no fret/string buzz. I have to say I have never had any buzz from my Shubb capo! The G7th arrived quickly (credit to the seller!) and I tried it. I have to say it is very very poor. Strings buzz on all four of my acoustic guitars (we are talking high end acoustics here) despite many attempts at repositioning. I have not found it easy to use either as claimed in the videos. I am fairly dextrous (I play guitar so I would hope so) but this capo is difficult to clamp on and remove cleanly and as I have said strings buzz when it is used. Would I recommend it? ...... Never it''s very very poor especially when you consider it is pretty expensive. If you need a good reliable capo.... in my view forget the sleek designs and all the claims made by manufacturers and just get a nice solid simple Shubb. They are less expensive and work.
